Description:

This flex circuit board is used to connect the handwheel encoder to the main handwheel PCB.  It is designed to make the assembly process easy and straightforward.  The alternative is to crimp lugs onto wires, then solder the wires to the board, but that isn't easy.

Assembly: All of the screws should be removed from the encoder.  The flex board should be placed metal side down against the encoder.  Make sure the flex board is oriented so it goes right over one of the 3 mounting screws at the edge of the encoder. Then install the screws.  After the handwheel assembly is mostly assembled, latch the PCB into the flex connector on the back of the main circuit board.  Then put the back plate of the handwheel on and secure using the long screws from the front.
