Z Probe Touch Sensor

This simple probe is an easy way to set the Z height of your CNC router.  Simply clip one end to the bit and lower it until electrical connection is made with the base.  You can use either a multimeter with continuity test to measure it manually, or an extra input on your controller to automatically lower the bit until the base is detected.

Measure the height of the base using a caliper or micrometer, then when electrical connection is made, you know the tip of the bit is exactly that height above the workpiece.
